Sergei Gonchar reaches a milestone !
Sergei Gonchar scored the 500th point of his career in tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens on a feed by Gary Roberts. I hope this will get me in Don Cherry's good books, he said after signing autographs for some kids.
A native of Russia, Sergei Gonchar was originally drafted to the NHL by the Washington Capitals in the 1st round of the 1992 entry draft. He has appeared in 781 NHL games during his career, notching 165 goals and adding 335 assists along with 631 penalty minutes. The 33 year old defenseman has played 37 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins this season, totalling 5+12=17 with 2 PIM.
