Joe Sakic scored the 1500th point of his career in tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild on a goal by Milan Hejduk. I don't know why exactly, but the ice just seems to be more wide open for me this year, he said as camera flashes went off..
A native of Canada, Joe Sakic was originally drafted to the NHL by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1st round of the 1987 entry draft. He has appeared in 1255 NHL games during his career, notching 579 goals and adding 921 assists along with 542 penalty minutes. The 38 year old center has played 18 games with the Edmonton Oilers this season, totalling 5+6=11 with 0 PIM.
